Matthew 5:13 (KJV)
13  Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

As most know, salt is essential for life.  It also flavors, preserves and thaws. I can see why our Lord says that we are, “the salt of the earth”. I believe that we believers should be, “seasoned with the gospel, with the salt of grace”
(Matthew Henry's Commentary on the Whole Bible). That we should be salted, so we may be salty! The gospel in us and through us flavors the world with the love of Christ.

If we lose our saltiness, the world is affected. We lose our ability to minister to the lost and dying in sin. We lose our desire for them to come to Christ and we lose our chance. We become more interested in ourselves and what He can do for us instead of Him and what He can do for the lost. We lose our focus and get distracted while the wide road leads them to death. We may need to prioritize all the good things we do so we can do the best. I have heard that sometimes,” the enemy of great is good.”!

It is a great privilege to serve God. It is not always easy but it is always rewarding. Sometimes we don’t see results but we must know by faith that He is with us has called us to this ministry. He is faithful! We are blessed.
